The Truth About Fur

Whether it's for a full-length coat or "just a little trim", killing animals for fur is always cruel. Read on to learn the truth about fur, and take action to help save animals today.

Millions of animals including foxes, rabbits, minks, and others are killed each year for their fur. Animals on fur farms, like those whose fur is sold in stores in Texas, spend their entire lives confined to cramped, filthy cages. They are never able to do anything that comes naturally to them, and often show signs of psychosis due to their confinement; many animals become so stressed that they gnaw at their limbs until they bleed. After a lifetime of pacing back and forth in a cage, animals are gassed, electrocuted, or have their necks snapped. These methods are not 100 percent effective and some animals wake up while their skin is being torn from their body.

There's more—a recent investigation found that millions of dogs and cats in China are being bludgeoned, hanged, bled to death, and strangled with wire nooses, their fur exported and often mislabeled as "rabbit" or "raccoon."

The fact is that every store with real fur on its racks shares the blame for what happens to these animals. As consumers, it's up to us take a stand and let stores that sell fur know that we won't give them one cent until they stop supporting cruelty to animals.
